Over the next week, Restore America’s Estuaries will partner with organizations like the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program nationwide to highlight the importance of our estuaries.

Estuaries, like Mobile Bay, are where freshwater meets saltwater. These estuaries are economically and environmentally necessary. They serve as nursery habitats for many commercially and recreationally important fish and shellfish, such as oysters, shrimp, and red snapper.

During National Estuaries Week, we invite you to participate in one of our events at the Alabama Aquarium to learn about this vital part of our community and how to protect it.
