Discovery Hall Programs invites all educators to check out their new STEM workshop, Build-a-Drifter, in the new year. 

Drifters are devices that track water currents. They can be constructed from simple and inexpensive materials, launched in local waters, and followed through a phone app using GPS tracking.  Drifters have been used to track oil from spills, lost vessels and even trash in the ocean.

On January 28, DHP will host a workshop that shares how to bring this STEM and data-rich activity into classrooms. Participants will build model drifters and explore a series of lesson plans focused on drifters, the Mobile Bay watershed and the problem of debris in local waters. 

The workshop will be held on Monday, January 28 from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Environmental Studies Center in Mobile, Alabama. Hold your seat at the workshop with a $25 refundable registration fee. The registration fee will be refunded upon completion of the workshop.
