The Estuarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab invites you to ‘sea’ what’s new in October. 

Visitors making their way through the Windows to the Sea exhibit will have new places to explore on our world sphere, and they’ll learn more about Shark Research in Mobile Bay and the northern Gulf of Mexico, how to spot an octopus, and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab’s floating classroom. 

On October 17, join the team as we celebrate International Sawfish Day with the Sawfish Conservation Society. For the day, you’ll have the chance to see a sawfish up close, and learn about these shark-like rays. 

Boardwalk Talks the first and third Wednesday in October will give visitors a chance to learn more about diatoms and tracking areas of low oxygen that could threaten fisheries in the Mississippi Bight. 

One more change for the month is a new feeding schedule for the large tanks inside the Estuarium. The feedings willl be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. For more on admission, hours, and events visit disl.org/estuarium.
