A team of AmeriCorps volunteers are lending a hand at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab this fall. Americorps Team River 5 will paint all three dorms on campus, and the maintenance complex.
The 10-member team is from across the United States and are members of the National Civilian Community Corps of AmeriCorps. The group will be assigned to four projects throughout their year of volunteer time, and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is the first on this group's list.
They'll take a short break after Labor Day from their time at the DISL to work in various locations with Keep Mississippi Beautiful. The group will return to the DISL to wrap up their work and then find out where they head next.
This is the third team in 15 years to help with projects at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. The last team was on campus in 2013 and painted all of the houses.
