Do you teach high school level marine science? Are there standards you struggle to cover? Would you like to add rigor or include more hands-on activities for your students? Are you looking to bring new topics to your curriculum, authentic data-based activities or enhance your students’ math and graphing skills?

Join your fellow teachers at Alabama’s marine science center to immerse yourself in Alabama’s marine environments as you work to improve or develop your marine science class. We’ll hear from experts, discuss curricular needs and problems, and refine or collaborate on the development of classroom activities. We also hope to add to the development of a marine science education community of practice for our state and the Gulf region. The CALAMAR! workshop is FREE with support from the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium. However, to hold your space, a deposit of $100 is due upon receipt of the confirmation email. This deposit is refundable upon completion of the workshop.

Please note that due to the funding source, priority is given to active educators in Alabama until April 1, 2025. Educators from other areas may register prior to April 1 (and need not submit the deposit) but will be placed on a waiting list.

Registration for all will be opened on April 1 and available spaces will be filled from the existing waitlist pending completion of enrollment.
