To choose a landfall location for the hurricane drag the symbol (
)
on the map.
To change the intensity of the storm, click on the symbol (
)
and choose a storm intensity in the window that pops up.
Once a storm is selected the buttons on the left can be used to show different
data about the storm:
- Storm Track shows the path along which the storm's eye moves.
- Tide Gauges marks (
)
the locations of tide gauges along the coast
on the map. Hovering or clicking these locations shows details about that
tide gauge.
- Max Surge Elevation shows an overlay with the highest surge
elevation (height of the storm surge water above average sea level) reached
during the storm.
- Max Surge Inundation shows an overlay with the highest surge
inundation (depth of the storm surge water above normally dry land) reached
during the storm.
- Surge Elevation Over Time shows an animated overlay of the
surge elevation as the storm moves along its track.
